3BR's TAPP products are still -- to my knowledge -- the only USB port systems that are rainproof WHILE IN USE. I've used 3BR's Panel TAPP ports on four motorcycles now, and this is my first use of the Universal Mount (on another moto, a Royal Enfield Meteor 350). Same top-notch quality, in-use rainproof, and now an always-on port for the parasitic draw is both negligible and a stated value -- try finding all those attributes in another vendor's product.

I installed this on my motorcycle a few weeks ago. The install was fairly easy, I removed the gas tank and ran the cord under the tank to keep everything clean. I’ve used the charger on a few longer trips and it has worked great so far!
So this purchase was to replace the 3BR unit purchased in 2019 and that died (full of rain water) in early 2025 (leaving me GPS-less in a driving rainstorm in the middle of a National Forest). So it seems that the "waterproof" connector will eventually need replacing to remain waterproof.(it's garage kept when not out on a trip). Also be advised that you will need to add another foot or so of wiring to reach the battery/fuse box on a 2001-2017 Goldwing from the handlebars.
Marty, It sounds as though you did not have a TAPP CAPP on your GPSr cable.
TAPP all-weather power port is the only USB power port that is weatherproof when a cable is plugge in. BUT, the cable MUST have our patented TAPP CAPP on it.
Also note that the TAPP is 'weatherproof' not waterproof. To be waterproof it must withstand being submerged to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes.
TAPP will withstand heavy water washdown but cannot be submerged.
There should be no need to add cable lenght to reach the Gold WIng battery. It is in the middle of the bike so 5 ft of cable should be plenty. I have not had any other GW owners report that they needed to add cable.

This works perfect. Great fit where the old lighter port went. It creates a dry and sealed USB port that is secure. I am not sure why Harley (or any manufacture) is still using cigarette light ports. When they could be putting a USB port like this on them. Highly recommend this port. It was everything I hoped it would be.
