Super heavy duty, built well, fits my Hero 8 black like a glove. Definitely a good buy to keep your gopro protected and no worries about water getting into the charge port as the included charging cable seals tight to keep moisture and rain out
My Hero8 batteries were awful. Even the aftermarket ones would only get about an hour of recording time. With this outstanding product, coupled with a 10,000mAh miniature power supply, I can record all day long.
The build quality is excellent. The only little issue I have had is that the seal on my adapter kinda shredded after the very first time I assembled it, but so far it hasn't caused any issues.
As far as the adapter cord, I would suggest getting the longest one. You can always bundle the excess up, but it will give you more setup options.
The video was shot while wearing the GoPro/X-Pwr setup.

We have all been there when they get tired and lay down for a rest :-).
That shredded seal pad is an old design. I thought I was being clever and designed in a 'skirt' around the cable overmold thinking that it would improve the seal. NOPE!
It doesn't hurt anything, it's just ugly as you have noted.
I quickly changed the seal to make it flush with the overmold.
This is exactly what you need if you want to wear your gopro for a long day and keep it recording. Awesome product.
To use external battery on boat for a day, there is three issues.
1. Battery life
2. Wave splash
3. Heat generation when using external power supply
X-PWR is not only good for 1 and 2 as you know but also 3.
Because this metal body work as heatsync I think.
GoPro body temp is better than before.
